The IEMA Foundation Certificate is assessed with a 1-hour, open-book online multiple choice assessment. This is completed online on the IEMA assessment portal.
Please note: If you are studying in a classroom, virtual course or on-site through your company, you will be registered for the next available assessment window as part of your course, and will be given your deadline date accordingly.
Online Learners:
For delegates studying via Online Learning, you would just need to contact us at Astutis when you are ready to take your IEMA assessment.
From January 2024, assessment dates will be available every week (starting every Monday), and you must register 2 weeks in advance.
You will have 6 weeks to complete your assessment.
Once you’re ready to take your assessment, you can book this by emailing our team on [email protected].
IEMA will email you the exam link directly the working day before your assessment window begins. Please note that the link won’t be active until the first day of the assessment window.
Virtual/Classroom Learners:
If you are studying in a classroom, virtual course or on-site through your company, you will be registered for the next available assessment window as part of your course.
You will be given your deadline date accordingly.
Successful completion also entitles you to Associate Membership of IEMA (AIEMA), and your first year membership is included in the course cost.
You will also receive an IEMA Digital Certificate.

If you are unsuccessful in your assessment, don’t worry! You will get one further attempt to take your assessment at no additional cost, just email our team to arrange a re-take.

Online learners have 6 months access to IEMA Foundation Certificate materials via the Astutis LMS.
Learners may purchase a course extension if they are unable to complete their studies in the 6 months.
This extension must be purchased before the elapse date.
